The natural and cultural heritage of Fife is dominated on three sides by water with the North Sea to the east, the Firth of Forth to the south and the Tay Estuary to the north. The Fife Coastal Zone project is a multidisciplinary investigation of the linked heritage of Fife viewed from the coast. Throughout both pre-history and historic times interaction with the coast has defined the people of Fife. The project aims to explore the past to better inform a sustainable future for all aspects of the communities of Fife. Guided by robust research we seek a convergence of positive systemic and behavioural change through a pilot project which will initiate the collection of key data streams, lay the groundwork for integration with local communities and governance processes, and establish a web-portal for engagement and knowledge-mobilization.
